Official airline policy ↗Physical fit
The inch figures and the centimetre figures do not match exactly, and the centimetre figures differ between United Airlines’s documents. BagCheck checks your bag against every published size: within all of them is a size fit, over all of them is too large, and anything in between needs confirmation with the airline.
These are physical measurements, not a promise that an overhead bag is included with every ticket.

Catalogue size matches
Confirmed matches have published dimensions within every size United Airlines publishes for that space. Bags within only some of them are counted separately and need confirmation. A size match is not a guarantee: a packed bag can bulge, and airline staff and bag sizers decide at the airport.
Basic Economy: Check the itinerary; some tickets include only the personal item.

The full lists hold every catalogue bag whose published dimensions are within the limit, including 140 overhead and 57 under-seat close fits with little room to spare. The examples take one bag per bag type, in order of listed capacity, and skip close fits. A bag with no listed capacity still counts and is listed after bags with one. This order reflects listed capacity, not quality, price or popularity.
Ticket allowance
Trip-specific allowance checking is not yet available. Confirm your fare and itinerary against the published allowance summary and your booking.
Most fares include one carry-on and one personal item; Basic Economy entitlement depends on the itinerary.
No standard carry-on weight limit is published; passengers must be able to stow the bag. Domestic Basic Economy can be personal-item only, while many international itineraries include a carry-on.
